And thus it begins...

... the seemingly endless string of holiday meals that litter November and December.

Matt's school had the honor of serving us our first taste of Thanksgiving this morning. While I don't think the Pilgrims had the benefit of Mickey Mouse chicken nuggets, the student-made cornbread was pretty good.

Shining Star(s)

Despite he and his mother's best efforts to lose them, Matt has reached 100 stars at hapkido. Up to two stars are awarded each week to denote attendance, clean fingernails, and positive progress reports from home. To mark the occassion, his studio rewards what some might describe as a generous-sized, personalized trophy. Fortunately we didn't bring Lisa's fancy camera, but another hapkido/preschool mom was there and took some better pictures than these.

The End is Here

Mid-November marks the end of our first AYSO soccer season. The kids had a great time and will definately be returning next year.

The day held mixed feelings for us. Katy's team played first and she rocked the second half, scoring her second goal of the season! She was on fire. Matt was not so fortunate. Lucky us, the wild fires out in LA started blowing in around 10:30 and by Matt's 11:45 game it was awful. (Aweful from our perspective, of course. At least our house isn't on fire). The league called the game at 12:00 and it was off to the party for us leaving Matt scoreless for the season (I'm sure there is a good "just like dad" reference in that but I will leave that to you). With a little work in the off season they can be powerhouses for next year, though. Lisa is already talking about how to coach her next team.

Writing Lessons

Katy is learning to write by sounding out the sounds of the words.
How's she doing?
