Why We Fail

Ok, so we all know that MonsterMom and I are horrible at updating this blog. But it works for us since we have one reader who has to read it because I e-mail her the blog with every entry (Hi Nana!). Down to business, however... Our biggest Monster had her birthday this month. Did you know that? Didn't catch the blog posting on that one? Well you would have if you read her Auntie's blog. So there you have it. We fail as bloggers. By way of trying to catch up, here's what else is happening around here: MonsterMom continues with her studies. She is doing pretty well and has even completed her first class, which was a half semester Criminal Justice class. We are all very proud of her and wish her continued success. We had some health concerns over the last couple weeks, but things seem to be on the upward swing now. Among Katy's gifts was a big girl bike. We hunted high and low searching for the perfect fit of size and attitude and settled on an 18" pink and black number with the graphics "Miss Behavin". Fitting, I know. She used some of her birthday money to buy a new helmet and we have gone for a few rides now. Unfortunately there are no great, open flat places to ride around us, but we make do. Matt earned his Senior Purple belt in Hapkido. He had some troubles again with breaking the boards, but was able to do it eventually. At this rate he will be eligible to test for his Green belt (and therefore potentially the older PeeWee Program) a full year early. Johnny is talking more and more. He is stringing words together into sentences and is really good about recognizing things ("Daddy Work" and "Nana House" as we drive by places). He got a new bike, too, so he can try to keep up with us on short walks. We bought a bike trailer to haul him along behind us for longer rides, which is also a very useful piece of equipment for hauling anything else we may desire to bring along. Me? I'm still here. I will be going to night shift next month, and working weekend nights at that. So don't expect to see me at any Christmas or Thanksgiving parties this year. I have been lucky to attend almost all of the kids' soccer games and thanks to my odd work hours I can do things like walk the kids to school a couple days a week and work in Matt's preschool. How many dads get to do that (whether they want to or not)?

NKOTB!!!!!

Concert hasn't started yet but here is the best shot I could get of
Toni Braxton. She is what you can't see to the left of the white
shirt. I'll see if I can do better with the main attraction
